Horse mackerel

A characteristic feature of horse mackerel is bony scutes along the entire length of the lateral line of the fish; in some cases they have backward-directed spines. They protect the fish from predators, at the same time, without interfering bending the body during fast swimming. Black sea horse mackerel is a subspecies of Mediterranean horse mackerel, but surpasses ocean mackerel in its taste.

Horse mackerel is a source of Omega-3 fatty acid, the basis of a healthy cardiovascular system, as well as such elements like calcium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, sulphur, iodine, zinc, manganese, copper, fluorine, chromium, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum.
